FabLab Onaki is the first indigenous FabLab in Canada, established by The First Peoples Innovation Centre (FPIC) in Gatineau, Québec. Their vision is that Indigenous people have the same learning opportunities, development, and employability as non-natives. They want them to learn digital skills contributing to their development and improving employability. In our effort to engage in meaningful relationships with Indigenous families and communities and give them access to these digital skills, we teamed up with FabLab Onaki to create the "Connecting Indigenous Youth and AI" program that took place in the summer of 2022.
